NW Spring Meeting May 15 2010 In contrast to last year's meeting on a grey, rainy day, this year the day was truly glorious, bright with sunshine and shinng faces! Nearly 70 women attended a great meeting at St Thomas in Eustis. The teens prepared a breakfast and lunch for all and we donated some residual funds from registration to improve the grounds for them. Reverand Amanda Wilson introduced to "babbling" and we had a good time. She was thought provoking making us see ourselves in a new light.
We welcomed new church ladies to our diocese from Corpus Christi in Okahumpka and Coventry in Ocala. We shared some of our projects and happenings in our churches. It was wonderful to see that almost all have a Prayer Shawl ministry. We even learned of a clever use for plastic bags making totes!
We donated $208 from the offering at Eucharist to the Mosquito Net Project (Canon Pinder) which helps prevent the spread of malaria in the Diocese of Western Tanganyika. These are simple easy to use PVC and netting items that cost $12 each. (Read an article from Dec 2008 from Bishop Howe about this worthwhile project.)
We are looking forward to another year with growth in ECW groups at some of our deanery churches. Please contact me if you wish help or ideas.
